Bridal Lingerie

When you are planning the most special day of your life, it's all too easy to concentrate on the aspects that are visible, such as the venue, the dress and the catering, as these are what everyone will see and of course, each one can make or break the success of your day.

Do spare an early thought for your wedding undies though.

Although hidden from public view, your lingerie is just as important as your special dress, as it gives you the right shape and support to get you through the day in comfort - plus you will be secure in the knowledge that underneath, you have a layer of sensual glamour which you have yet to reveal to your new spouse!

Selecting your Bridal Lingerie

  1. As soon as you know what your dress style will be, start to look for suitable lingerie to wear underneath it.

  2. Don't chose your lingerie until you have chosen the style of your dress, as the cut of the bodice will dictate whether your lingerie needs special characteristics, such as fastenings that don't show in a low back dress, or a strapless design to wear with a bustier style top.

  3. Choose something that makes you feel sexy, but don't skimp on comfort - you'll be wearing it all day.

  4. A wedding is the ideal time to splash out on beautiful lingerie that will make you feel special. Look for sensual fabrics that you wouldn't normally buy, such as silk or lace.

  5. Take your lingerie to try it on with your dress as soon as you possibly can - you need to know if the ensemble works well together before it is too late to make changes to it.

  6. A bridal corset will help to create a smooth hour glass figure and will help to keep your tummy under control, but try one on first, as not everyone finds them comfortable.

  7. If you decide to wear separates, rather than a body, do get a matching bra and pant set, which will feel and look much more alluring than mismatched separates.

  8. Add sex appeal to your wedding lingerie by opting for stockings instead of tights. Hold them up with a pretty suspender belt, or get a basque with suspender straps.

  9. Avoid buying hold ups unless you know they work for you - for some girls they will always slither downwards, which is not ideal when you're standing at the altar.

  10. Don't forget the garter for added sex appeal and in keeping with tradition. It's a great way of incorporating 'something blue' too!
